San Diego county residents and businesses will soon find out. After 12 years of planning and permitting the largest desalination plant in the western hemisphere is about to be commissioned. This billion dollar project plans to intake 100 million gallons of seawater a day and convert 50 million gallons to high-quality drinking water for the San Diego county communities. SIMCO is proud to have been part of this high profile project that will likely be the first of many desalination projects in the USA. With the use of its state-of-the-art STADIUM® software combined with leading-edge concrete expertise, SIMCO assisted ARCADIS and Kiewit Shea Desalination Joint Venture in ensuring the desired service life of concrete elements in high salinity environments.
